Assistant Professor of Adult & Professional Programs/
Director of Faculty Services
Centenary College of New Jersey is seeking to fill the position of Assistant Professor of Adult & Professional Programs/Director of Faculty Services. The Assistant Professor of Adult & Professional Programs/Director of Faculty Services reports directly to the Dean of Adult & Professional Programs.
Centenary College, founded in 1867, is a vibrant, growing and innovative independent, applied liberal arts College with a student body of about 2,500 which includes students from 21 states and 14 foreign countries. Primarily an undergraduate institution, selected graduate, accelerated and online programs are offered, largely in professional areas, including the MBA. The Center for Adult & Professional Programs campus locations are: Parsippany, NJ; Iselin, NJ; Hackettstown, NJ. & our corporate locations are: New Brunswick, NJ; Ewing, NJ & Orangeburg, NY.
Centenary College offers an innovative, individualized curriculum for students. The College offers students strong academic programs designed to focus on specific learning outcomes to ensure that each student succeeds. Centenary has a completely wireless campus where all full-time faculty & full-time undergraduate students in the traditional program have laptop computers. We have a strong commitment to interdisciplinary general studies that supports a high-quality liberal arts education and affordability in tuition and other student costs.
The Assistant Professor of Adult & Professional Programs/Director of Faculty Services is responsible for collaborating with others on a wide range of programs and projects related to Adjunct Faculty development including the creation of a bonded community of engaged Adjunct Faculty, increasing the experience and quality of the Adjunct Faculty, which will lead to higher learner retention rates.
Responsibilities Include:
1. Supervision of the faculty services staff, including the coordinator of faculty service and the administrative assistant for faculty services.
2. Collaborate with Information Technology on all faculty related projects.
3. Create content for adjunct faculty development.
4. Deliver training and professional development programs that enhance adjunct faculty talent, skills, and experience.
5. Teach distance and on-ground adjunct faculty development course.
6. Supervise advising and mentoring program for adjunct faculty members.
7. Initiate periodic and individual contact with adjunct faculty members.
8. Identify continuing professional development needs for adjunct faculty.
9. Create a learning culture that encourages and supports an engaged adjunct faculty, and an environment that identifies and leverages adjunct faculty strengths.
10. Utilize data gathered on adjunct faculty performance to improve training and professional development content
11. Resolve adjunct faculty issues and record in issue log.
12. Assist adult faculty services in interviewing prospective adjuncts as needed.
13. Provide content for the Adjunct Faculty Blog which provides a vehicle for faculty recognition and the sharing of ideas about teaching and learning
14. Conduct research on teaching and learning
15. Organize adjunct faculty recognition events and other community-building events
16. Serve on College committees, as assigned
17. Attend and participate in department and faculty meetings
18. Teach one course per semester
Required Qualifications:
1. Master's Degree
2. Prior teaching experience, preferably at the college level
3. Demonstrated excellence in field
4. The ability to interact successfully with a broad constituency
5. The ability to set and meet deadlines
6. The ability to work both independently and as an effective team member
7. Commitment to, and support of, a diverse community
Desired Qualifications:
1. Understanding the role of scholarship and service in undergraduate liberal arts institution
2. Prior experience advising students
3. Terminal Degree
